Hello!

I'm an openfoam beginner and have the following question:
Is there any way to open a new case without copying one from any tutorial or other old case?
I mean so that the basic structure is given?

Thanks for your help,
best regards,

Sandu69

Unfortunately not.
You have to write the files for yourself or alter the exisiting tutorial cases.

Not directly, but there are ways to solve the problem.
From foamCopySettings -help:
Code:
Usage: foamCopySettings srcDir dstDir

Copy OpenFOAM settings from one case to another, without copying
    the mesh or results.
    - requires rsync

Note
The foamCopySettings.rc (found via the ~OpenFOAM expansion - see foamEtcFile)
can be used to add any custom rsync options.
Another possibility (which we use) is to create templates of settings for various applications, store them centrally, and then create new cases from these templates (again using rsync).
We store them in the $WM_PROJECT_INST_DIR/site/templates directory, but they could potentially also use the ~OpenFOAM mechanism.
