Hi everybody!
Here at the Delft University of Technology (Aerodynamics), we are possibly interested in organising some sort of small OpenFOAM meeting for people working in the Netherlands and / or Delft. However, it is not clear how many people are working with OpenFOAM in the Netherlands. Therefore, I would like to ask the following: Who is working with OpenFOAM in the Netherlands, with how many people and at which university / company ? Best regards, Frank

Hi Frank,
I'm not working in Netherlands, but if you organise this sort of meeting and open it a little bit further, let's say part of Europe for instance, I would definetely be interested in taking part to it. I miss Delft, and it would be a nice occasion to meet other OpenFOAM users. Let me know if you accept foreign people! Regards, Vincent |

Hello Frank,
We are working with OpenFOAM. I have been working most with it for the last 2-3 years, but also 2 colleagues work with OF from time to time. The company is called Modesi and we are located in Eindhoven. kind regards Guido |

I am a beginner in OpenFOAM, but since I work in the North of France I might be interested by this meeting.

We are still considering the possible options. For now, I am very busy with my own developments and simulations.......
There is of course the next workshop in Milan, which may be of interest to you. I think that the best and easy way to exchange some OpenFoam experiences is a meeting at our department (Aerospace Engineering, Delft University of Technology) accompanied with some (invited) talks. From september - november, I am in South-America (are there any OF users from Peru/Chile/Brazile where I can crash :-)),so the next opportunity will be december. We should definitely push the meeting!!!! I'll keep you posted. Frank

Hello Frank and All,
I will be examining a PhD student at Federal University of Rio de Janeiro + doing a series of lectures/talks as a part of the visit in late June/2008. There is a strong OpenFOAM group there and hopefully it will become even stronger in the next few weeks/months. It is a shame that the meeting in Delft is postponed. I have been thinking to do a small working get-together late in the summer for PhD researchers and similar advanced OpenFOAM users in Zagreb. The idea would be to collect a group of 5-10 people at the University for 2 weeks and work together on individual projects with supervision and exchange of knowledge. I would expect to "know" the people coming and would offer help on the projects they bring along with them. It is unlikely that the University would be able to offer funds for this, but there is a chance of securing summer accomodation and similar + the University will be nice and quiet for some good work. This is, of course, subject to positive response from the Forum and direct contact. Let me know what you think, Hrv

The Zagreb idea sounds like a very good one! I do have a PhD student who would benefit from something like this; although subject to funding and him making enough progress with his project to make it worthwhile.

Hi Hrv,
For our honeymoon, we are going to spent 2.25 months in south america, from Lima via Santiago via Patagonia to Sao Paulo and Rio. Nice trip, isn't? It would be nice to meet some local (OpenFOAM) people over there :-) I really like the idea of a 2-week development meeting in Zagreb, but personally, I am afraid that I don't have time for that, unless I really work on my own problem. Now, I really have to finalize the model, do some serious simulations and wrap it all up in a thesis.... Concerning the meeting in Delft, we could still arrange an informal 1-day meeting in early June, just to meet (and discuss with) people who are working with OpenFOAM in the Netherlands or everyone who likes to come here for 1 day..... Regards, Frank

Hi Hrvoje,
I'm a PhD student from Spain. I'm really interested in taking part in this meeting in Zagreb. The point is that I've already arranged a research training in Canada for the whole summer. If the meeting eventually takes place really late in the summer, I'll join you !! Please, keep me informed! Regards, María |

Hello Maria,
Did we meet in Zaragoza about a year ago? If so, you are precisely the kind of person to benefit from this kind of event - I will keep you posted about the exact dates. Hrv
