hello everyone,

i want to apply depth at outlet as a boundary condition for my open channel flow case. i am using InterFoam solver. please suggest how to modify the existing boundary condition to suit my open channel case.

Maybe you could force air into the domain at the outlet side. Otherwise you would need to couple your inlet flow to get the right outflow level.

Thanks for the reply. i will try that. Does it possible to modify the existing boundary condition to more physically describe our case by assigning Depth at outlet as a boundary condition. Depth at outlet of the channel is considered as most import boundary condition for open channel flow.

thanks and regards

Not sure that it is possible do define depth as a boundary condition. The boundary is physical. So you will need to define flow conditions at the boundary. Maybe you can define p, including the hydrostatic component, to get the right depth you want.

Thank you for the reply,
Maybe you can define p, including the hydrostatic component, to get the right depth you want. can you please elaborate that or suggest some reference. i am using interFoam solver for simulating open channel flow.
my boundary condition at outlet are:
at outlet

p_rgh
type fixedFluxPressure;

U
type zeroGradient;

Thanks and Regards
