Dear Community,
I have recently dived into the world of FSI and solid mechanics from a couple years experience of doing fluid only simulations. While there are a few contributions such as mentioned in this Purpose of this (sub)forum and solids4Foam & FOAM-FSI threads. The tutorials are of course simplistic to give a brief about usage of IC/BC for that library, but has anyone used them for a crash/impact simulation? While I am just getting started I am wondering, are available solvers capable of doing a full scale crash simulation ? (typical example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LBMIzr0aPI8 ) . There are numerous commercial softwares which have such capabilities, however considering people who have taken an oath for FOSS always, are there any options available? Is OpenFOAM (as of now) capable of doing a crash simulation ? Or there is only one commercial way of doing those kind of simulations? Thanks for any insight. |
