Hey,
I am new to OpenFOAM and I am trying to model combustion and pyrolysis of solid polymer which directly goes to gas phase on heating at pyrolysis temperature. Now , we are burning that gas which are evolved during pyrolysis. I am not sure which solver shall I use and what should be my solution strategy.

Hello Abose,

I am trying to do something similar as you. I want to simulate methane pyrolysis and my starting point is the SandiaD tutorial. The model manage to handle methane combustion but the modifications i have done fail to simulate methane pyrolysis. (i just tried to omit all reactions involving oxygen)

the solver in the SandiaD tutorial is that of reactingFoam, thus it might not be a good model for pyrolysis... i have added a thread on the errors. Please feel free to have a look. the Thread name is "SandiaD case conversion from methane combustion to pyrolysis"
