Questions about atmPlantCanopyTurbSource _OpenFOAM V2012

Hello,everyone!
I want to simulate the airflow around trees using OpenFOAM. I checked the codes of OpenFOAM V2012 and found the aerodynamic effects of trees can be treated by adding source terms to CFD equations using atmPlantCanopyUSource and atmPlantCanopyTurbSource. The atmPlantCanopyTurbSource can apply sources on either epsilon or omega to incorporate effects of plant canopy for atmospheric boundary layer modelling. But it seems not correcting the turbulence kinetic energy, namely k. I am very confused about this. Does anyboday have some idea for this? Hello!
I've been reviewing this fvOption and I also agreen with Jingxue Wang . The class atmPlantCanopyTurbSource looks to omit changes in TKE and what looks like the source term developed by Sogachev for TKE, here is assigned to epsilon. The Sogachev paper is 2006, later Dalpe & Masson in 2009 published almost the same formulas as Sogachev and is clearer than each turbulence field requires a source term. |
