Dear All,

I am comparatively new to using OpenFOAM for membrane processes.

I want to simulate the gas-liquid separation process using OpenFOAM.

The geometry: An axisymmetric counter-current laminar flow separated by a membrane of a given thickness 'd'. There are 'x' species on the gas side. One particular Gas specie diffuses through the membrane and into the liquid side. The diffusion is only in the radial direction in the membrance.

I have used the wedge-geometry to perform an axisymmetric simulation. I have defined three regions. One for the gas. One for the membrane and the third for the liquid.

I have attached the geometry for your references.

The governing equations: a) Mass and momentum equation for the velocity-pressure in the two sides of the membrane. b) Convection-Diffusion of the species in these two regions : coupling with the momentum equation for the velocity. c) Diffusion only in one direction within the membrane (perpendicular to the interfaces). d) Respective BC's for the velocity, pressure and species.

I have come across some solvers:

a) membraneFoam - https://github.com/MathiasGruber/MembraneFoam
b) GeoChemFoam - https://www.julienmaes.com/geochemfoam

My question is:

-----Since I am dealing with only mass transport of a dilute species across a membrane----
Which is the solver that I am supposed to use in this case? I could not find a relevant solver.

I think I am complicating the problem? Any help will be highly appreciated.

Thanking you in advance,
