Hi,
I simulated an engine with multi-component fuels for the liquid spray model using the "sprayFoam" folder in the OpenFoam.2.3.x. I turn off the "chemistry off" in the "constant/chemistryProperties". For the same initial condition case, with one pure fuel (n-cetane and toluene, mass fraction: 1), the OpenFoam was running smoothly with a spray model (Fig. 1). However, with a little modification to multi-component fuels (toluene and n-cetane, mass fraction: 0.01 and 0.99), the liquid mass of multi-component fuels is higher than the pure fuel. Also, I plotted the figure of the average age and diameter of the parcel (Fig.2 and Fig.3); the phenomenon was acting "weird" behaviors for the mixture of fuels. It was stuck in a liquid phase during the simulation and did not evaporate to the gas phase correctly for a mixture of fuels. The lowest mass parcel can especially reach 1e-13 (kg) for the mixture of fuels compared to the lowest 1e-10 (kg). Besides, the gas phase did have some evaporation for the mixture of fuels (Fig. 4). But, compared to pure fuels, the mixture of fuels was lower value than the pure fuels. The figure (Fig. 5) for mixture's of fuels temperature dropped significantly. Please let me know if anyone who saw this issue leaves a comment. |
