Hello OpenFOAM community,
My company is looking to invest in an engineering workstation to run multi phase OpenFOAM simulations which includes a dynamic mesh. I have been getting acquainted with OpenFOAM over the past few months and noticed that the computing power of my laptop is starting to limit my efficiency.

This post is just to ask the community what the specs are of your workstations where you are running OpenFOAM.

I'll start it off, my current laptop has the following specs:

Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7700HQ CPU @2.80 GHz
2.81 GHz
Installed RAM: 8.00 Gb
Available cores: 4

Hi,

you might have a look at the hardware section https://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/hardware/ here on cfd-online
or go thru this discussion
OpenFOAM benchmarks on various hardware

another idea was this initiave
http://openfoamwiki.net/index.php/Co...Foam/benchFoam
see also
http://openfoamwiki.net/index.php/Contrib_PyFoam
->4.7.3 pyFoamComparator.py
A utilitiy that automatically does a series of variations on a run (for benchmarking, testing and verification purposes). The behaviour is specified by an XML-file.
Work in progress. Therefor no example is present and the DTD that assists editing the XML-file is not included. Contact me, if you want to give it a spin (and want the DTD)

just my 2 cents ;-)
