Dear Foamers,
I've been busy simulating a spherical particle in a cubic domain with pimpleFoam for quite a while lately. I tried with different mesh both structured using blockMesh and unstructured using SHM. In all the cases the solution for the pressure field is far from physical sense. The Geometry, the grid and the boundary conditions are all symmetrical as explained below: 0- Laminar (stokes flow). 1- sphere is located in the center of the box. 2- top wall in z direction is moving with a constant velocity in x direction. 3- front and back walls (y) are frictionless (slip B.C.) 4- Bottom wall is frictional (noSlip B.C.) 5- Particle interface is frictional wall (noSlip B.C.) Problem: Given all this, I expected to get a symmetrical pressure distribution along y direction as well as higher order of pressure and viscous force on particle in z direction compared to y which are not the case. Attachments is my boundary condition and a screenshot of mesh. Any help on this problem is appreciated. |
