Dear OpenFoamers,

I am new to OpenFOAM and have a question regarding MRF (Multiple Reference Frame) in a simpleFoam. As is known, the rotating zone should be specified by cellZone to apply the MRF. So my question is, should the cellZone be created for a volume or just a patch?

Thanks in advance.

Hi, Altinel

I'm a new guy learning OF to simulate centrifugal pump which is very similar to your case.

but I don't know does OF have MRF model to set the interface between rotor and stator?

Roughly speaking:

A cellZone is a "zone of cells", so...

Code:
cyclicAMI
I think that if you have a perfect match and a stationary case, you can define
Code:
cyclic
as well.

Others are:

Code:
slidingInterface
 mixingPlane
but I never used them, you should ask for help to some expert on turbo machinery for details about the usage of these BC.

Have a look here:
