I have been trying to learn simulation of sediment transport problems. I came to know about SedFoam but I am not sure if it works on OpenFoam 5.0 or not?
Currently i am interested in simulation of bedload in river flows (open channel flow). If anybody with knowledge on such simulations please let me know which solver can i start with. Thank you in advance. |

Hi there
The solver driftFluxFoam is about sedimentation (using the drift flux method). See .../tutorials/muliphase/driftFluxFoam about examples! Basically, this is the same solver as the settlingFoam in the older version of openfoam. There is a phd theses out there in the web, which is about this solver by Daniel Brennan: "The numerical simulation of two-phase flows in settling tanks". If you google this, you should find it. good luck J. |

Thank you Jon for your reply.
I will go through the thesis and the tutorials. Seems like it can be used for bedload transport but I have to find out if it is possible to simulate the bed changes also. |

I'm testing models implemented into sedFoam. Could you please publish modified code that compatible with OF 4.1. If it not possible for some reasons, please post basic instructions for modification of initial source code. Thank you With best regards, Yaroslav |

Hi Yaroslav,
do you think a sedfoam version compatible with OF 5.0 and OFplus 1712 is ok for you? Cyrille |

Hi everyone,
A new sedFoam version much more stable and compatible openfoam 5.0 and v1806 is just now useable : https://github.com/SedFoam/sedfoam Moreover we have more advanced turbulence models. We will publish them soon (we have 2 papers in preparation and so we are waiting submission before full push in github). Please note that the compatibility with the new openfoam version (6.0) is straightforward (just comment and uncomment a line in sedFoam.C as explained in sedFoam.C file) Cyrille |

Sir,
I'm trying to install sedfoam with foam-extend-4 in ubuntu 16.04 with the help of the instructions given in http://servforge.legi.grenoble-inp.f...c_unix_foamext I couldn't do the first step in the installation instructions that to add a tailored fixedFluxPressureFvPatchScalarField class. Can anyone help me out in solving this? |

sedfoam no longer supports the foam-extend version.
We recommend using either the version of openfoam.org or the version of openfoam.com |

Hello,
Thank you for your interest in sedfoam. :-) sedfoam supports all esi and foundation versions. Which version of openfoam did you install? Concerning sedfoam install, it is straightforward. Just follow the instructions of the README: https://github.com/sedfoam/sedfoam To resume : git clone https://github.com/sedfoam/sedfoam sedfoam cd sedfoam ./Allwclean ./Allwmake |

I have problems with the installation. I use OF v1812 on Windows10 Linux Bash. When I run "./Allwmake", I get error messages (attached), and the installation fails. What can be the problem? ...I'm quite dumb in Linux Thank you in advance! Griva |

Hello GrivalszkiP,
We did not try to use sedfoam and Windows 10, but your problem is similar to this one: Error in compiling new solver in openfoam 1706 This is not a problem of the sedfoam solver, but rather a problem related to openfoam and windows bash I think you can test to install make via "sudo apt-get install build-essential" but I'm not sure it solves your problem ... Keep us in touch, |
