Dear friends,
I have a case that requiring simulation fire smoke spreads within a complex building and even the impact of a sprinkler system. I know there is a 'FireFoam' available in openfoam's lib, can anybody tell whether it can solve my case? If not, any good open source software would you suggest? I widely explored and found there is a software called 'fire dynamic simulator' which could simulate fire smoke. Is it a validated software I can trust, how about comparing it with FireFoam? Many thanks for any clarification! Mark |

Hi,
If I remember correctly, FDS has been around for a fair amount of time and was tested extensively as well. Again, if memory serves me right, I think you can model sprinkler systems as well. Cheers, Antimony |

Dear Antimony, Thanks for your answer. So can I understand it in a way that FDS is more suitable for my case than Firefoam? Since I have some experiences using openfoam but completely no experience with FDS, I would stick to Firefoam if they are equally suitable for my case. Thanks, Mark |
