My Case: a round tube, continuous vapor with dispersed droplets, turbulent flow. Between two phases, there has heat transfer and mass transfer, there also has heat transfer between tube wall and two phases.

I am curious about what tutorials in OpenFoam code should I choose as a base. I have two options for my poor experience: 1. twoPhaseEulerFoam/RAS/bubbleColumn ; 2. reactingTwoPhaseEulerFoam/RAS/wallBoiling

I use the version 4.0, and I am a new openfoam learner, so plaese someone can offer me some options and attach little introduction of the tutorial would be very appreciated. Thank you so much!

Hi,
It depends on which phenomenon is of more importance to you.
I suggest you to start with bubbleColumn case. It is closer to your goal. Off course, if there is no heterogeneous (wall) phase change in your case.
The wallBoiling case can be also a good case if there is heat transfer and boiling at the walls and it is important for you.
Best,
Mohsen

Hello,
Can any one tell me that what is major difference in twoPhaseEulerFoam and
reactingTwoPhaseEulerFoam?
Other thing i want to confirm for reactingTwoPhaseEulerFoam: is it based on volume fraction or mass fraction? tutorials are same for both solvers.

Regards,
Umer

I think reactingTwoPhaseEulerFoam is based on volume fraction called alpha.gas, alpha.liquid.
I think difference between these solvers is that reactingTwoPhaseEulerFoam is suitable for simulation when you have phase change like condensation or boiling.
I mostly work in reactingTwoPhaseEulerFoam and example you mentioned "wallBoiling"?
did you work on that? if yes, can you tell that did you obtain the same heat flux you applied in wall? (in this example instead of constant temperature we applied heat flux (100000W/m2)), when you run this example and calculate heat flux at wall's control volume, did you get the exact value you set at wall?
