Hi All

I tried to use interFoam to simulate nanodroplet spreading on solid surface. However, I found that the interface is too diffusive.

Anyone has any ideas why interFoam doesn't work well for nanodroplet?

Many thanks,
Jun

Hi,

I had the same sort of problem with diffused interfaces using interFOAM at smaller dimensions.

I just struggle with micro meter scale but never went down to nano meter scale. However, I did find the interface diffusion to reduce when using interFOAM solver of OF_extend.

May be this could help you also. I did post a few results in the thread here:

Hi Saideep

Thanks for this. Yes Foam-extend gives much sharper interface. It has solved my problem.

Do you know the difference of the interFoam code between OF 2.4 and Foam-extend?

Can I just replace the code of interFoam in OF 2.4 by that in Foam-extend?

Thanks,
Jun

Hi,

The reason behind this is yet unknown for me and it is really difficult to know the difference in code.

I guess also copying the code from FE to OF will not solve the problem until we debug what is causing this difference.
Also to add, FE uses structure of older version of OF(1.x, I guess) and the structure of code is lot different to the present OF versions.
