Hello foamers!
Someone in my group asked me if there is an OpenFOAM solver available for the following problem. I did not know about it and could not find anything, but maybe you guys can help me out: He is looking for a solver which models a main fluid (e.g. pipe flow), which contains a little bag with another fluid in it. The little bag is made up out of a thin, but finite-sized (non-permeable) membrane with a set of given material parameters. The main fluid drags the bag along with it and the bag will move and deform. The model should allow large deformations. Initially, both fluid flows may be considered laminar. My guesses: 1. We need a fluid solver for the fluid in the pipe, coupled with a solid solver for the membrane, which on its turn is coupled to another fluid solver. 2. We model the bag as a particle in a lagrangian fashion, with its own fluid solver built in? Not sure how to formulate this. I hope you can help me out! Best regards, Edwin |
