I'm looking for OpenFOAM users of all experience levels in southeast Minnesota, Minneapolis-St. Paul, Univ. of Minnesota areas who would be interested in meeting to share their knowledge and experience using OpenFOAM. My initial vision is an informal, friendly, social environment for learning, sharing, and networking with other OpenFOAM users including hope-to-become users.
My personal experience is using ANSYS codes for CFD analysis in an industrial environment, and I've used OpenFOAM for personal use for several years now. I've taken OpenFOAM from simple model development, to meshing, to analysis, to post-processing. I've explored the source code and made simple source code mods to study the effect on turbulence models. However, I don't consider myself (yet) to be an OpenFOAM expert. I'd welcome hearing from other users in the area who might want to gather together, perhaps, sometime in early spring 2016. Of course, if such a group of users already exists, I'd be very interested in hearing about its activities. Regards, Glenn A. Carlson, PE, JD, PhD |

Glenn,
There was a users group meeting in Saint Louis, summer 2014 for the Midwest region and we had about 25 attendees. We could coordinate another one or even host a dual meeting and WebEx between the two locations if people are interested. Dan |

Thanks, Dan.
Great idea to consider. I'm hoping to find enough local interest (Univ of Minnesota?) for informal sharing and networking to start a conversation. I attended the Mid-Atlantic Users Group meeting in Pittsburgh a few years ago. There's great value in meeting and talking to other OpenFOAM users of all skill levels and seeing how OpenFOAM is used in a wide range of research-level applications. Regards, Glenn |

HI Glenn,
I am working in a consulting company in Twin Cities on which we are trying to work with OpenFOAM. I used OpenFOAM during my PhD studies. Also, I was in the Mid-Atlantic Users Group when I was doing my PhD in the University of Pittsburgh. Let me know if you find any other people interested in gather and start a userss group in Minnesota. Thanks!, Christian Frias, PhD. friperch@gmail.com |

Hello Glen,
I'm using OF for my engineering R&D at Optomec in St Paul, though I may be an expert. I would like to get knowing you as well as other OF users in the twin cities area. Can we set up a time for a phone conversation as a start? Thanks. James |
