Hi,
Please I'm a PhD student and my thesis is about simulating the withdrawal of a plate from a non-newtonian fluid.I want to know if OpenFOAM is suitable for this case.

Hi Nihel,

As with all general questions like this: it depends.

OpenFOAM readily supports a variety of non-Newtonian viscosity models for single and multiphase flow. If you can simplify the case to be an infinite plate being pulled that would be much easier than having a plate pulling out and leaving a pool. The latter case may require mesh boundary deformation which makes things a bit more complicated.

I hope that helps answer your question.

Cheers,
Kyle

Hi Kyle,
Thanks a lot for responding me. In fact I have to work with a plate with definite dimensions. I have no choice. So as I understand that this is possible but it will be complicated. I hope that it wouldn't be so difficult to do.
Thank you
