Does anyone know how to create velocity profile in openfoam?

Exactly what are you asking for? Are you interested in setting an initial condition? Or are you perhaps interested in creating a specific velocity profile as boundary condition? In the first case you should look at a tool called funkySetFields, and in the latter a library called groovyBC. Try to do a search on Google or this forum, there are lots of examples out there.

hi
thank you for answering me..

well i want to create a specific velocity profile, for example how the velocity vary from bottom to top..
in fluent to do this i needed to write a small program.
but in openfoam am lost. also my solver that i use is pisofoam..

If you are simulating atmospheric boundary flows you can use atmBoundaryLayerInletVelocity for your inlet patch. see tutorials/incompressible/simpleFoam/turbineSiting for more details.
