Hi All,

I would like to use Paraview to plot the iso-Contour together with the geometry (wall). In Paraview, when I plot the iso-contour with other quantities, I found I cannot make the geometry shown at the same time. I attached an example in this post (this figure is from one paper I have read: Galpin et al. Combustion and Flame, 155(2008)247-266.) For this kind of figure, I know how to plot the isocontour of iso-Yc colored with temperature. But I do not know how to make the grey burner surface shown at the same time. Could you please give me some hints about how to do it in paraview?

Please do not move this post to the paraview zone, and there are many OF/paraview experts here. Thank you in advance!

best regards,h

Just a small warning...

I'm not one.

also, sorry if this seems trivial but one can always forget:

When applying a filter in ParaView, the original foam or OpenFoam file that you opened will be hidden automatically. From the Pipeline Browser, you can see the filter and the OpenFOAM/foam file. Click on the little eye beside the foam file and your geometry will be shown again.

If for example, it's interfering with the filter (say contour) then you can decrease the opacity of the geometry.

Hi Aljazari,

Thank you so much. Actually I tried that but I failed to make the geometry half transparent. i tried to change the color in the view setting but I still failed. Do you know how to change the geometry to transparent state?

Thank you.

Assuming you are using the reader that comes with OpenFOAM: once you click the foam file in the Pipeline Browser, you'll find three tabs at the bottom:

Properties, Display, Information.

From Display you can change the colour and so on, one of the options is "Opacity", decrease this and you must either hit Return or move to another field to "apply" the changes.
