I'm not running my case in parallel, why does my meshing crash when I erased the file?

Don't know why but sHM checks that file anyway so you need to leave that where it is.

Code:
--> FOAM FATAL IO ERROR: cannot open file file: /home/ubuntu/Desktop/condivisa/8_cilindro/system/decomposeParDict at line 0. From function regIOobject::readStream() in file db/regIOobject/regIOobjectRead.C at line 87. FOAM exiting This is mine, that is what you get when you do not have any decomposeParDict within you system folder. |

could this in any way be related to my other post where I stated that you cannot have more than two SHM instances running at the same time?

This is just because snappyHexMesh meshes on multiple processors/cores.

No. Solvers and other utilities in general do not require a decomposeParDict.
