Hi, i setted up a case of typic Couette flow trying to solve it with interFoam solver. Mesh generated with blockMesh (x_divisions = 20 y_divisions = 50). Changing the size of the mesh along the x axis (different x_divisions: 20 vs 40 vs 80) I obtain the same curve of U_Y in function of X coordinates when the flow is stabilized. The physical time necessary to reach the steady-state depends a lot on the discretization.
The steady state velocity profile results wrong, because it is different of the analytical solution. . I tried to modify some fvSchemes params without success (gradScheme, interpolationScheme, laplacian(muEff) ). I defined nu and rho in transportProperties : nu nu [ 0 2 -1 0 0 0 0 ] 0.066666667; rho rho [ 1 -3 0 0 0 0 0 ] 1; Acceleration force defined using file g in constant: dimensions [0 1 -2 0 0 0 0]; value ( 0 1 0 ); Furthermore, I notice that changing the viscosity the convergence values of (U_Y_max - U_Y_analytical solution)/ U_Y_analytical solution) are still the same Last edited by nuovodna; May 7, 2010 at 07:45. |

Why did you use "interFoam"? That is a solver for 2 incompressible, isothermal immiscible fluids using a VOF (volume of fluid) phase-fraction based interface capturing approac. I am working in a simular case with "icoFoam" in a model simple 2D Couette flow (1 flow).
