Dear everyone:

I am just newer in field of using Openfoam. Now I need to simulate the spray only without combustion.

I know that there is a solver of dieselFoam for solving the spray but there is combustion.

For me, the first way is to delete the part of combustion from the solver, the second way is through the parameter setting up to exclude the combustion.

Is possible for me to access it through the second way?

If I need to do as the first way, would you like to give me some advice?

Any words from you are valuable.

Thanks and have a nice day!

Hi,

just go to the combustionProperties-file and write 'off' behind the keyword 'ignition'. In the chemistryProperties-file you can turn off the chemistry in the same way with the keyword 'chemistry'!

I think, that is what you meant with the "second way", right?!

I hope that helps!!

Hey Michal:

Thanks so much for your information. It is the answer I want and it is very helpful for me.
In fact I also have another question is my gas is only composited of air and vapor. which place I could find to set up this parameter? which function or variable in the source represent it?

Thanks agian!

Hi,

I'm not sure if I'm understanding your question right...

You can define your gas composition in the '0'-directory! For an example look in the AachemBomb tutorial! There is a 'N2'-file and 'O2'-file, which defines that the initial internalField consist of 76.6% N2 and 23.3% O2. This ratio is approximately that of air!

That is the way you define your gasphase!

I hope that helps!!!

Hey Michal:

You are right! It is the answer I would like to get. I am just beginning with the solver. It is possible I will inquire much more.I think you are excellent in using OpenFoam

Thanks and best wishes!

I'm in the beginning with OpenFOAM (dieselFOAM) as well!
But I had the same problems like you...

Take a look at that website: http://openfoamwiki.net/index.php/Contrib_dieselFoam
Maybe it can help you with some other questions!

Cheers, Michael

Hey Michael!

Thanks for your information, it is very helpful for me.

One question is if the components of the air are consisted by N2, O2, H2O, I think I need to add a file of H2O in the folder of 0, what else do I need to do?

Another question is I need to inject one kind of liquid with denity=22.1 kg/m3
T=100C,
P=3.81MPa
dm/dt=25mg/s
V=443m/s
particle distributes from 100nm~10mum

I think I need to change the thermoProperties of liquid in the file of thermophysicalProperties,but how to change the coefficient in it ? Is there some idea about this problem?

I think I also need to change the injectProperties, but I don't know how to show the relation between the the inject mass and time, and particle diameter distribution, and velocity.

would you like to give me some idea about it?

Thanks!

Hi flying and anyone who can help,

I am an OpenFOAM newbie and just getting started last week. I wonder whether you have succeeded in your problem. My problem is similar to yours. I am inject water into a room to simulate fire extinguishing system. Should I only need to change the liquidComponents from C7H16 to H2O in the thermophysicalProperties file?

Thanks.
