Dear folks,

I'm really a newbie to Openfoam and CFD. I would like to solve the steady 3D Euler equations for low speed imcompressible flow, but I can't find a suitable standard solver. Therefore I'm thinking about using the standard Icofoam solver for laminar flow and choosing viscosity equal to zero. But it is hard to judge whether I will encounter many problems by doing so? Has anybody experience with a Euler solver for the inviscous NS equations with OpenFoam? Can anybody give me some suggestions? Thank you in advance.

Best regards

Quinn

Srinath,

Thank you very much for your suggestion. The problem is that I am not solving a potential flow which has irrotation requirement. What I am trying to do is to solving the 3D Euler equations with vortical inflow. The governing equations will be continuity and euler equations.

Hi,
I have the same problem. I used icoFoam with zero viscosity and the vortex dissipated which is not expected for euler equations. Can you tell me if you found out how to solve euler equations for incompressible flow.

Thank you.
