Hi OpenFOAM-Community,
I have a question concerning the memory requirements of simpleFoam. I tried to run a simpleFoam simulation with a mesh of about 4 million cells on a multicore-cpu computer with 8GB RAM. The serial-run breaks down when starting the 1st iteration. But if I take the same case, decompose into two parts and run in parallel with 2 nodes on the same computer (8GB RAM), there is no more memory problem. Is there any special reason for that kind of memory reequirement? Best regards, Fabian |
