Hi Foamers,

I am trying to couple OpenFOAM with Abaqus through MpCCI and I want to know if anyone else did it before.

To do this it would be much easier if I only had to deal with one case file, is there any easy way to make all the dictionaries into a single file?

Hello,

you will have modify the OF solver you want to use to make it read in the file you want to use.

Are you planning to perform static or transient analysis ? We are working with partners who are trying to perform transient FSI analysis with Fluent and Abaqus through MpCCI, it seems that MpCCI is not able to deal with transient analysis with Abaqus.

Etienne.

Hello,

Thank you for your answer.

We are currently performing static analysis with Fluent and Abaqus through MpCCI, and we are also working with setting up a transient problem but no simulations has been done so far. Do you know why MpCCI is not able to deal with transient analysis with Abaqus?

Did you modify OpenFOAM to work with MpCCI? How do you suggest to modify the solver? Is there any easy way to do this?

Thank you for your interest.

Hi Mathias,

sorry, i do not work with Abaqus neither MpCCI, I'm working with Adina for FSI analysis and trying to develop a coupling between Code Aster and OpenFOAM.

I'll send the link to the right guy if he wants to exchange with you about the MpCCI/Abaqus subject. (I'm not sure the OF discussion group is the right place to deal with that).

For the OF solvers modification, you will have to understand how the dictionaries "lookup" works.

Regards,

Etienne.

Hi Etienne,

Thanks for you help, I'll look into the lookup function works. I talked to the guy who is doing the transient simulation with MpCCI/Abaqus at the moment, and he does not have any problems.

Hi Foamers,
I have a problem where in I have to use the results obtained from a flow simulation in openfoam as an initial boundary condition in abaqus for thermal stress analysis. The geometries will remain the same in both the analysis. I wanted to know if there is any way of doing this for openfoam and abaqus.
Does anyone know how to do this?

Thank you in advance,
Srikara
