Dear Raymond,

etaP = G*lambda = given in the table
etaS = solvent viscosity, you don't need that for a melt (the data in the table is for an LDPE melt). If you still need some value, you could try zero or some very small value.
Everything else you need is given in the table, it seems.

Good luck,
Sita

Hi, Sita:
The parameters which can get like you say are important to me, too. Thank you for your explain in details.

i am interested in the viscoelasticFluid. But i feel uncerain about the N1, PSD and so on. ( N1=σ11-σ22) .
Like: If the N1 is greater , is that means the elastic characteristic of the poly melt powerfuler? Can someone help me clearly know the question? Or recommand any books or journals about these issues.
Best regards!

Dear Mohamad,

I think the viscoelasticInterFoam solver is not available for everyone yet. Last thing I heard was that Jovani was still working on it. Maybe you could contact him personally?

Best,
Sita

There are four modes for the default PTT-Exponential. If only one mode is concerned, how to disable the rest higher modes?

hi
I solved a problem for Newtonian and decided to compared it with viscoelastic
so I need similar properties such as viscosity and density. in other hand B.Cs for P are cyclic.

is nu(newtonian.icoFoam)=(etaS+etaP)/rho(visco.) ? I think , these are not equal !!!

whats your idea ?

Hi dear ali
In viscoelastic fluid, the summation of solvent and polymer viscisity is total viscosity that should be concider to calculate Re Number.
in netonian case, lambda should be near to zero. I suggest to set 10e-08 for this .

thanks for useful and quick reply.
I want to know too , what should be I do for modeling a fluid properties that applied in icoFoam by viscoelasticfluidfoam .(specially about density nu(newtonian.icoFoam)=(etaS+etaP)/rho(visco.) !!!)

Hi again
i hopethat get your mean correctly, ENSHA ALLA
nu is kinematic viscosity, divided solvent viscosity to density.
Note! polymer viscosity should be considered zero in Newtonian case.

your explain come back to viscoelastic solver I understood it. my problem is about icoFoam. please help me , I have 4 questions :
1) icoFoam results and viscoelasticfluidfoam are different at a unique fluid. and do the difference refer to density role?( I vanished polymer effect in my case by decreasing lambda and other viscoelastic properties)
2) and how do I fix it?
3) I need nu for icofoam and eta , rho for viscoelastic solver (eta/rho = nu *true/false*?) .
4) (if #3 is false) is there a utilities that can present density of a case solved by icoFoam ?
thanks again and good luck.

1) The ported version of the viscoelasticFluidFoam solver downloaded from - http://sourceforge.net/projects/vffof21x/. And then extracted to /user/home/ folder. It had 3 directories and 1 file inside, which needs to put into the right place of openfoam dir. Mainly, the 'src' directory need to be in the right place because the compilation of the solver search for this inside src/transportModels, i.e. -

a) Copied 'src/transportModels/viscoelastic/' directory to 'opt/openfoam201/src/transportModel' directory.
b) Copied 'applications/solvers/viscoelastic/viscoelasticFluidFoam/' directory to 'opt/openfoam201/solver' directory.
c) Copied 'tutorials/viscoelastic' directory to 'opt/openfoam201/tutorials' directory.
d) Copied the file 'wmakeViscoelasticFluidFoam' to 'opt/openfoam201/wmake' directory.

2) The source with system files and compilation done with -

a) The source file linking to the solver directory can be generated by -
'cd opt/openfoam201/src/transport models/viscoelastic/&& wmake libso && cd -'

b) The solver directory need to be compile, and it can be done by -
'cd opt/openfoam201/applications/solvers/viscoelastic/viscoelasticFluidFoam/ && wmake && cd -'

c) The recompilation of Openfoam directory was needed, and it is done by -
'cd opt/openfoam201$ ./Allwmake

Note : It will recompile whole openfoam directory (including viscoelasticFluidFoam) and end up
with - '/opt/openfoam201/platforms/linux64GccDPOpt/bin/viscoelasticFluidFoam' is up to date.

hence, it is done..!!!
hi amin144
how did you solve your question about step 2. now i face it and I need your help ! thangks a lot

I was working in the development of a viscoelasticFluidFoam solver (with the great orientation of the Dr. Hrvoje Jasak, thank you very much Hrvoje!!) to simulate viscoelastic flows.

The follow models are implemented: Maxwell, Oldroyd-B, Giesekus, PTT linear and exponential,
FENE-P, FENE-CR and DCPP. There are others models already implemented but not tested (Pom-Pom, SXPP, DXPP, WM ...).

The metodology used to obtain solutions in high We numbers was the DEVSS. The test geometry was mainly the 4:1 planar contraction. The solver are able to simulate multimode cases with n modes.

For the interested: A presentation that will soon be available on line to give more informations.

hi jovani:
now i have installed the openfoam 2.1.1 succeed, of course i download your new viscoelasticFluidFoam files. but i do not kown how to add it in the openfoam. I think you can help me. Thanks a lot .

just extract it in $WM_PROJECT_DIR and make sure that the wmakeViscoelasticFluidFoam file is exist in this directory.
then:
Code:
./wmakeViscoelasticFluidFoam
