francesco_9403 is on a distinguished road
Hi foamers , I am relatively new to openfoam (1 year experience in university team) , lately I was working on a rudder simulation for force evaluation on 0 AoA config.

I am running steadyState incompressibleFluid solver , simulation ran for 2000 iter on upwind scheme, low residuals on pressure (1e-5) and velocity (1e-6/1e-7) k and omega well below 1e-7 (initial residuals).

I decided to switch to limitedLinear 1 schemes for all fields however I am getting unPyhisical result (lift on symmetric geometry and huge decrease on drag , from 200N to 60N ) however the sim did not blew up.

Mesh is not really fine (approx 2.5 mil cells) simulation is 3d (i will attach some pictures)

I was wondering if some of you guys could give me some hints, my take at the moment is that my mesh wont allow such schemes to work properly due to low refinment.
Also when I changed schemes initial residuals skyrocketed to 1e-2 (but I guess it is an expected behavior ?)

BC :
inlet -> standard velocity inlet
outlet -> standard pressure outlet
domain boundary -> symmetryPlane
walls -> wallFunc for k and omega (yplus 100 approx)

> good checkMesh (only warning 7 skewness on a bunch of cells)

I will attach some photos of mesh near critical region of rudder.

Have a great day!
