Hello,
I'm relatively new to openfoam and a little nudge in the right direction might help me. I am trying to simulate a multiphase flow where one phase is a gas and the other phase is dispersed with small particles. The particles should turn into a film on the walls. The size of the geometry is several metres, so I am leaning towards multipaseEuler to represent the particles as a phase. The resolution does not have to be highly accurate. I am currently meshing on the basis of 0.15m. I have tested multiphaseEuler in openfoam 2312 and the result was not bad from my point of view, but I don't know how to implement the film formation. In openfoam 11/12 there is a nice module e.g. in the tutorial VoFToFilm. However, this is for compressibleVoF and not for multiphaseEuler. With compressibleVoF I have not yet succeeded in implementing the disperse phase and I do not know whether this is possible. From my point of view, multiphaseEuler with the coupler (fvModel) of compressibleVoF/film would be the best solution. Does something like this exist or would I have to rewrite the existing one, does this make sense? Implementing the disperse phase in compressibleVoF would of course also be good. Other options are also welcome. In general, I am open to any thoughts on the subject and look forward to any answers. Best regards dovo |

Hey!
Based on your description, I would take a look at reactingParcelFoam. You can turn off the unwanted features such as combustion, chemistry etc. This solver allows you to inject explicit parcels (packages of N particles) and there is a film feature to model thin films on desired patches. You could take a look at the tutorials liquidFilmStepWithSprinklers or splashPanel (and not splashPanelFilm where a separate mesh region is needed). Another solver is kinematicParcelFoam and its tutorial drippingChair. Run these tutorials and you will probably understand how to set up a working case, they are quite clear. Good luck! |

Thank you very much, I will try it out right now.
