interFoam: increase alpha.water within cellZone

Hello!
Based on the damBreak interFoam example i am trying to "add water" within a specific area of my domain. I have specified a cellZone for this purpose and used setFields to test the zone and general setup. Now i want to add some m3 of water over time in that specific volume, evenly spread within. Having inflow from a patch worked but is not what i want. I am having a hard time finding out where to start with this. I tried writing a source using fvOptions but log.interFoam tells me that "Source rainSource defined for field alpha.water but never used". I think that is because i can't manipulate alpha like that. The amount i want to add per/s is rather small compared to cell size. Please give some pointers on where to start with this. EDIT: i saw this: Setting Mass source in interFoam which seems to support that fvOptions is not implemented for alpha.* - but my question stands. also saw this: interFoam modification for mass transfer however this is not cellZone specific.
