Hello everyone!

Im trying to solve simple bullet external aerodynamics problem. I use freestreamVelocity and freestreamPressure boundary conditions and kOmegaSST turbulence model with SIMPLE (consistent yes option included) pressure-velocity coupling. My setup is very similar to aerofoilNACA0012 tutorial (im using OpenFOAM Foundation version). The problem is: on Mach 0.4 and 0.6 solver runs fine and converges sucsessfuly, but on Mach number 0.95 and higher it diverges.

The quesion is: is it possible to model transonic and supersonic flows (Mach 3) with rhoSimpleFoam or I should use something like rhoCentralFoam or hisa solver? Maybe I need some special settings for my case to stabilize solution?

I can upload some files of my case if needed

I'm not sure if this will solve your problem, but have you activated the "transonic" switch? https://doc.openfoam.com/2312/tools/.../compressible/
