Hi,

I am looking into modelling batch mixing in a stirred tank reactor. There are no internal baffles and no inlets or outlets. The top of the tank is open. I have modelled air & water in this system, tracking the free surface deformation (vortex) using interFoam.

I now want to inject a tracer into the free surface. The tracer will be miscible for the water phase. Then I will track the concentration profiles and estimate mixing time in the vessel.

I am looking into the best solvers to do this. I currently am thinking of adding the passive scalar transport equation (using function objects) to interFoam. Another option would be to use interMixingFoam. Could anyone with experience give me advice. It would be much appreciated.
