Hi,
I am currently trying to run the RSM-SSG model in OpenFOAM. I have started off by modelling a steady state single phase system which is a stirred tank reactor (using SRF method). I am aware this turbulence model is unstable and I have used a precursor solution from a converged SST K-Omega simulation. I have tried to run the simulation but find it keeps blowing up. I have attempted used very stable numerics, i.e., first order upwind, and limited corrected schemes. I have also set the URFs as low as 0.1. However, I seem to have had no luck in getting SSG to work. There are no indications that the model set up is wrong, as all the BC's chosen are correct when comparing to other tutorials using SSG. Out of interest I have ran the same simulation, with same set up (i.e., mesh, solver settings, etc) on FLUENT for SSG model and found that the simulation has converged. I believe the issue may be an implementation problem as FLUENT uses a simplification for the turbulent diffusive transport term whilst OpenFOAM doesn't seem to do this, i.e., sticks with Daly & Harlow. I want to try and implement a change to the source code of OpenFOAM to include this simplification, however I do not have the experience in coding or touching the source code. Does anyone have experience in this area or have they successfully implemented changes to the SSG model in the past and if so could I please have help as I am really stuck on how to do this? |
