Dear All
I want to reduce the domain size in third dimension therefore want to provide periodic bc in that dimension. I am facing the strange behaviour when i want to provide periodic bc in third dimension (front and back plane). As per my understanding the predicted flow fields should have same values across the plane where periodic bc is provided but when I visualize the results in paraview I see that it is not the same across the front and back plane. I tried to use both symmetry and cyclic bc in front and back plane but they show same behaviour. In the attached figure you can see that between fron and back faces, the predicted velocitry field is not same and varies along the dimension. About the case: It is cavity in the middle of a channel. flow is turbulent, RANS model (kOmegaSST model with wall functions) is used to close the NS equation. To get fully developed flow at inlet is intended by using mapped bc at inlet , where flow fields are mapped with certain offset distance back to inlet. |
