Hi!
I was going through openfoam simpleSolarCar tutorial to check out solar load radiation model. I found that the direction of sun written in radiation properties> sunDirectionModel is different from the actual sun direction shown in paraview. I though that it might be a problem limited to the tutorial only and set up my own case files of a solar panel on ground. My case files gave wrong sun direction as well. I changed the z coordinate from +5 to -5 , making sun location under the ground but it gave right results, although the sun is now underground technically. I am attaching my domain showing that the panel is at 0 and it's illuminated side is upward while sun direction in radiation properties is set at (0 0 -5). Please help me find the source of error. Is it an openfoam bug? or am I missing something? Thanks |

Update:
So I realized later that it's not location of sun but instead the direction of sun so if I want my sun to be vertically up at +5 z axis location, I should give -5 z axis sun direction However one problem still remains: Why is only upper side of panel illuminated and the ground shows 0 qr value even though its boundary condition is the same as the panel's? |
