Hi formers,

I am testing radiations models and just wondering if opaqueSolid radiation model applicable for non-participating fluid region?

The reason for this question is, I found opaqueSolid is much faster than both FvDom and ViewFactor models.

Please see the attached radiation model file.

The model runs just fine and I am not sure how the radiation is calculated (if it calculated) by the opaqueSolid. Absorptivity is set to 0 in the fluid.

An explanation or any direction pointed out is much appreciated.
Thank you.
Dasith

I could really use some clarity on this matter, I've follow this link

Adding Radiations in chtMultiRegionSimpleFoam

which suggests that the OpaquSolid can be used in the fluidRegion.

I have set up a simple model to test this,
-a closed boxed
-with a inlet and outlet in Xmin and Xmax
-a frozen flow
- two solid plates inside, one plate with constant temperature of 1000K.
-radiation model to solid plates , OpaqueSolid
-radiation model to fluid OpaqueSolid

Now no matter what parameter I change in the radiationProperty and radiationBoundary file, the steady temperature of the plates stays the same.

But when I adopt P1 model in the fluid region, things change.

is it because OpequeSolid do not solve for G ? then how can one control the flux then ?

utterly confused, would appreciate a point to start to resolve this mess!!!

Thanks,
Dasith
