Hi,
I am working on simulating the pseudo-2d fluidized bed presented by Laverman et al. using the multiphaseEulerFoam solver. Although the time-averaged solid volume fractions are in an acceptable agreement with the literature data, the solid averaged velocity profile does not seem good. I have checked every thing in the settings but I cannot make it better. I appreciate if any experienced guy gives me some hint on this issue. Cheers, Mohsen |

Is anyone who works with the multiphaseEulerFoam here?

Hi,
Could you please provide a complete and minimal set of information, so that we can reproduce the issue, if possible? I don't think any useful suggestion can be made based on the current problem description. Some of the links below may help?

my-results.png file.zip Thank you for your prompt response. I am working on the simulation of Laverman pseudo-2D fluidized bed. Unfortunately the averaged velocity in y direction is not in an acceptable agreement with the experimental data and the numerical results of the literature. I have attached my results and the literature results. Sorry for the bad format of my results. The averaged velocity unit in my chart is (m/s) while it is (cm/s) in the other plot. The averaged volume fraction is in acceptable agreement with the literature. I am not sure what is wrong in my settings but I have checked everything and the input values are correct. I appreciate if you can guide me to solve this issue. I have spent a lot of time on it. The run files are also attached. |

I would change CarnahanStarling radial model to LunSavage and use a turbulence model for the air phase. Also, is your alphaMinFriction (0.6) from the literature?

Thank you ! Yes, it is 0.6 from he literature. I think changing the air flow regime to turbulence did not work. The deviation from the literature result is big. Have you ever validated the results of multiphaseEulerFoam?Do you think if I shoudl switch to version & from the version I am using now, version 8?
