Hello everybody,
I am currently working on a RANS simulation of a heated mixed convection channel flow. As a solver, I am using the buoyantBoussinesqSimpleFoam solver with appropriate boundary conditions and the kOmegaSST turbulence model. For the temperature and velocity, I am using second-order discretization schemes. I have the problem that my velocity profiles don't match well with the experiment. After some literature review, I found that one possible reason could be because there is no buoyancy modeled in the turbulence approach. I saw that in OpenFOAM the buoyantKEpsilon model is available but only for compressible solvers. Do you know if it is possible to use this buoyant KEpsilon turbulence approach for the buoyantBoussinesqSimpleFoam solver? Another thing is that my simulation highly underpredicts the turbulence kinetic energy. I already tried another k wall function and changed the inlet conditions but there is still a high discrepancy. Do you know why this could happen? I am looking forward to your help. If you need additional information feel free to ask. I would also appreciate other hints why this discrepancy between the experiment could be and what could be changed in my current setup. Many thanks in advance and best regards, Daniel |
