Hey everyone,

I'm trying to simulate turbulent, internal flow and conjugate heat transfer using chtMultiRegionFoam. As a test case, I'm using a straight pipe with L = 0,5 m, r1 = 0,005 m and r2=0,01 m, materials copper and water. Everything seems to work well, except for the velocity profile that results. It should be shaped like a parabola, but instead it shows a 'flat m'.

I've attached both the result (solved with chtMultiRegionFoam) and what it should look like (solved with simpleFoam). fvSchemes and fvSolutions of the fluid region are also attached.

All boundary conditions in the 0 folder are the same for the relevant files in both cases. momentumTransport in both cases is RAS with kOmegaSST. I'm using OpenFOAM.org v8.

Could anyone tell me what I need to do in order to get the parabolic flow profile in my chtMultiRegionFoam case?

Hello, JeffFoam.

1. Parabolic profile is formed only in laminar flow (Re < 2300 ). The law 1/7 is correct for turbulent flow.
2. I think your chtMultiRegionFoam case didn't converged. Try to increase timesteps number and attach residuals plot.
