Hello all,
I am using LES (OpenFOAM 2.3.x) to model a flow where swirl is imparted by a set of vanes. I know the mean axial velocity, and can calculate the swirl component at the exit plane of the vanes. The attached image shows a slice through the domain. The flow is vertically upward in this picture, and the inlet to the domain is at mm. This is also the swirl vane exit plane. At the inlet I can prescribe the mean axial velocity (), and the mean swirl velocity (obtained from and ). The problem is that I cannot figure out how to prescribe velocity fluctuations at inlet. For a case with no swirl I used a mapped boundary condition to recycle velocity from a plane downstream of the inlet, and fed it back to the inlet. That worked for the non-swirling cases but not for this case. Can someone suggest a way to impart turbulent fluctuations in this case? Thanks. |
