Hello,

I try to modeling an immersion heater with OpenFOAM. Only for training porpuse and check it is possible

Requirements like attached picture
  • One Fluid Region( 1/2 of height with water filled, rest with air)
  • water evaporation + condensation
  • simulate the heating + heat cap. of solid region (with fixed power condition and start temperature) (approximation / simplification are allowed, e.g. transform the full solid in an thin sheet pip))
I do have in generall two plans
  1. Use of an single region solver (e.g. with VOF model) and apply the solid behaivor with wall conditions (e.g. like fluent way with wall thickness + one shell conduction layer with source term)
  2. chtMultiRegionFoam to handle the regions for fluid and solid
My Problems / Questions currently are
Plan 1: How to modeling a virtual wall with thickness, heat capacity, heat gradient + source, wall temperature?
(I know about externalWallHeatFluxTemperature, but with my knowledge it do not use the thickness parameter with mode=power)

Plan 2: How modeling the mass transfer water -> vapor and the interaction with air by usage the chtMultiRegionFoam solver? VOF, Euler, ...?
Does chtMultiRegionFoam solver support fluid interactions?

Thanks, Thomas
