Hi,

I'm looking into running some multiphase simulations and have got a little overwhelmed by the different multiphase solvers there are available on OpenFOAM.

I would like to simulate the following:

1. Two phase Euler-Euler
2. Phase 1: Newtonian and Phase 2: Shear-thinning
3. Incompressible, Isothermal
4. LES and URANS (although URANS is not essential)

From the link below, which contains all of the multiphase solvers in OF5, I cannot find the most suitable one.

https://cfd.direct/openfoam/user-gui...13-1000003.5.4

Could anyone suggest the best one to go with? Any help would be great!

If the fluids are immiscible, the interFoam solver wil be a good start.

If fluids mix, the twoPhaseEulerFoam could be a suitable solver. However, the solver includes heat transfer. This might be unwanted. An old twoPhaseEulerFoam did not have this feature. I think the feature was added around version 2.4. A second option would be to use sedFoam. This is an Euler-Euler approach for sediment transport. Perhaps it is possible to use this with the rheology you want to model.

(Nearly) all the turbulence models work with all the solvers. However, they might not be included in the solver. You can compile them with the solver to include them.
