Hello forum,

I await everybody be ok.

I need your help with my simulation. Since 2019 I'm trying to simulate a centrifugal pump, based in paper "NUMERICAL STUDY OF PRESSURE FLUCTUATIONS CAUSED BY IMPELLER-DIFUSSER INTERACTION IN A DIFFUSER PUMP STAGE" by F. Shi and H. Tsukamoto.
I'm studying the RSI (Rotor-Stator Interaction), trying to capture the fenomena, obten pressure fluctuation, and calculate the frequency from this.

I'm working with OpenFoam 7, using a dynamic mesh (AIM), with pimpleFoam as solver, and kOmegaSSTSAS (RAS) turbulence model.

When I plot the velocity vectors, I saw a big issue. Inside the stator be recirculating the flow. I attached print with these

Based in paper mentioned, I used the same time step, and I left to my rotor turn 10 laps.

So I have the below questions:

1) Do I making a mistake with the boundary conditions?
2) Maybe, Do I need let the flow inside the volute be ordered with more laps in the rotor?
3) Do I have an general error in my simulation?

I attached the imput files. (Link Google Drive)

Please I need you help to continue with my I+D project.

I thank you in advance for your time and I await your responses so I can continue learning.

Regards!

Hey,

Did you solve your problem? I am facing the same problem, but only when using Non Conformal Coupling (new AMI for OF 11). Also, how did you manage to replicate the pump's geometry? I am using a pump for my master thesis but it has no volute, just the impeller. I would love to add a volute.
