Dear OpenFOAM users,

I am modelling a free propeller in a water basin of infinite width. This water basin has initially no flow velocity. So the induced flow is only due to the momentum of the propeller.

In most of the simulations I found in the literature concerning the modelling of a ship's propeller. An option is to provide free-slip walls at the Side patches. As shown on my first screenshot ('Free-slip.jpg'), these free-slip boundaries have to be located far enough of the propeller in order to give realistic values. I consider this as a downside of this modelling method and hence, I was wondering if an other method exists to model these side boundary patches.

Currently I was thinking about the boundary conditions as shown in the Table ('table.png'). The reason why I suggest these boundary conditions is because at the side patches, both inflow and outflow can happen. Can someone confirm that this combination is valid? Or what other options exist to simulate the side patches of a numerical domain of infinite width.

Thanks in advance and have a good day.
