Hi OpenFOAM Users,
I am working on a CFD problem using OpenFOAM for a axis symmetric , incompressible and steady state problem using simpeFoam solver. I made structured mesh using Pointwise and imported to OpnFOAM. I run it successfully in OpenFOAM. I am bit confused in applying the boundary conditions as I only know the boundary condition at the inlet as ( Discharge = 1 m^3/min). I do not know any boundary conditions at the outlet. I calculate the Velocity from given Discharge and use that value as BC for velocity at inlet and for pressure I used zero Gradient BC at the inlet. As in my case, the outlet is attached to a pipe in a Oil field Well where I do not know the pressure and velocity at the outlet. Can anyone suggest me what type of BC should I use at the outlet for Pressure and Velocity ? I am attaching the screenshot of geometry for referencing. Picture1.jpg Regards Gurpreet |

suggestions:
1. extend your outlet pipe to allow a fully developed flow 2. velocity BC at outlet: pressureInletOutletVelocity 3. pressure BC at outlet: fixedValue, value: try 100000. value doesn't really matter bc only the pressure gradient is important. 4. pressure BC at inlet: fixedFluxPressure |
