Hey Foamers,

I am trying this first 2D simulation in OpenFoam and I want to know your expert opinion how should approach it.

I have to find Volumerate at Outlet.

I am thinking of incompressible, turbulent simulation.

Where should I give 50 Pa as a inlet Boundary condition if all others are wal

Hi,
  • Create you mesh (blockMesh/Salome/other software)
  • Use setFields to initialize the pressure value (50 Pa) inside the room
  • set the pressure outside the room to fixedvalue = 0 Pa
  • Use pressure related boundary conditions for U outside the room
  • Use pimpleFoam (or pisoFoam / icoFoam / what you prefer - Pimple is recommended)
  • Done

Depending on the velocity and so on, you should check if compression is a phenomenon to capture. If so, you should use a density based solver rather than a pressure based one.

Also change the transportProperties to your specific fluid and set the turbulent model according to your needs.

Hello,

Thank you for the Reply!

I am trying to do a steady state simulation so simpleFoam is the obvious choice ?

Hi,

Are you trying to do steady state compressible or steady state in compressible flow?

If steady state compressible use rhoSimpleFoam else simpleFoam.

Hope i answered your question.
