I want to calculate the swirl angle in a typical pipe flow simulation. I would like this angle to be calculated at every n'th time-step or iteration so I assume this must be included in the controlDict file. I'm not sure how to specify this as it needs to have a cylindrical coordinate system and then the swirl is calculated on every cell relative to the newly introduced coordinate system on a specific plane as atan(Vt/Va). Where Vt is the tangential velocity of the cell and Va the axial velocity.


Does anyone know how to do this or give me some starting point?
