Dear All,
I've been conducting a simulation for a flow over a circular cylinder at Re = 20000, using OpenFOAM v1712, and without any turbulence modelling specification. The solver I've been using is pimpleFoam, with GAMG method specified in fvSolution dictionary. Ideally, I've never seen asymmetry in the wake for any of the published research studies, related to stationary cylinder. I am confused whether it has something to do with the numerical aspect of the simulation, such as the solver, spatial or temporal discretization scheme etc. The solution is always stable and does not diverge, and even the residuals are also converging well towards low values. The mesh is quite simple, and is similar to many previous studies. Can anyone provide some insights into what might cause an asymmetry in the wake, although other characteristics of the solution look good.? |
