Hi Everyone,
I am new user for OF, recently I stared working on chtMultiReionFoam. In this case there are three regions, water, solid and liquid nitrogen. in that, there is no movement for water, it (water) is covered with copper fins and the liquid nitrogen is flowing around it (please see the attached image). I want to see, how quickly the water is getting frozen. I am using OF-1706, I found a tutorial for chtMultiRegionFoam in youtube, with that tutorial help I tried a case. In this case, there are three regions, I played around topoSetDict and fixed setting the zones and regions ( I hope there is no issue). The issue is that when I execute chtMultiRegionFoam, the following error message is getting spitted out " Solving for fluid region lN2 diagonal: Solving for rho, Initial residual = 0, Final residual = 0, No Iterations 0 DILUPBiCGStab: Solving for h, Initial residual = 0.99999598, Final residual = 4.3528754e-12, No Iterations 1 Min/max T:77 297.9737 GAMG: Solving for p_rgh, Initial residual = 0.94246703, Final residual = 0.0053560349, No Iterations 6 diagonal: Solving for rho, Initial residual = 0, Final residual = 0, No Iterations 0 time step continuity errors (lN2): sum local = 3.2630236e-08, global = 5.1886877e-09, cumulative = 5.1886877e-09 GAMG: Solving for p_rgh, Initial residual = 0.00096996157, Final residual = 4.4313473e-08, No Iterations 11 diagonal: Solving for rho, Initial residual = 0, Final residual = 0, No Iterations 0 time step continuity errors (lN2): sum local = 3.0732849e-12, global = 1.1916669e-12, cumulative = 5.1898794e-09 Solving for fluid region water diagonal: Solving for rho, Initial residual = 0, Final residual = 0, No Iterations 0 DILUPBiCGStab: Solving for h, Initial residual = 1, Final residual = 8.5602425e-14, No Iterations 1 Min/max T:257.03502 298 --> FOAM FATAL ERROR: cannot be called for a calculatedFvPatchField on patch water_to_lN2 of field p_rgh in file "/home/OpenFOAM/chtMultiRegionTut/realDim/0/water/p_rgh" You are probably trying to solve for a field with a default boundary condition." The message says that, there is an inappropriate BC given for P, I tried to fix it. next stage U also having some BC issue. I want some input for the following issues, 1) What is the issue with the boundary condition, what else BC could be used for P and U? 2) "diagonal: Solving for rho, Initial residual = 0, Final residual = 0, No Iterations 0" Why it is being 0 always? 3) If time permits, I kindly request you to check the case setup ( i have attached it) In that image it is clear that yellow colour is finZone and white is waterZone, in the 2nd picture around the fins third lN2 zone. I have uploaded the case folder here " https://www.sendspace.com/file/l0vy7z" Please help me to solve this issue, waiting for your response, Thanks, Aadhavan |

Hi There,
I changed the BC to fixedValue its running without any problem. but i am not sure about the solution. If you have any correction on my BCs, please suggest me. Thanks, Aadhavan |

I have a same question with you in the boundary setting, and when set is as fixedValue it workedd, but set as calculated with a value , not work? how do you solve it? |
