Hi Foamers, i am an OpenFOAM beginner. I am currently trying to run simulation on the spray formation pressurized metered dose inhaler(pMDI) using water.
The inhaler geometry has a liquid inlet patch to allow inflow of water and air_inlet patch that allows atmospheric airflow into the domain. I have generated the mesh and currently plan to test the meshes with laminar flow using icoFoam solver. before trying out turbulent conditions. However im not sure what initial conditions to set for the inlets for air and liquid and also the outlet to accurately simulate spray formation in inhalers. I tried to set a pressure difference between the inlets and outlet, using pressureInletOutletVelocity. However the courant number tends to explode, thus i increased the nNonOrthogonalCorrectors from 0 to 2, which helped for one timestep but the same thing happens at the next timestep. So i know the problem is the initial conditions, but im not sure whats wrong. I have also attached the p, U, and the icofoam log for reference, do let me know if you need more info! Thank you! |
